Dear Editor: Finally, there is something on which all Big Ten fans can agree. The Conference's attempt to strong-arm excessive programming fees for previously free over-the-air sports events through its new Big Ten Network is a flagrant foul.

BTN is attempting to exact fees of more than $1 per consumer per month from cable providers to carry the network when it launches in August. If cable providers cave in and agree, those costs undoubtedly will be passed directly on to consumers in the form of another cable rate increase.

C4CC to FCC: Don’t Over Regulate an Internet Market that Works: Washington, DC (June 13, 2007) – A fully competitive, self-regulating marketplace has been key to the overwhelmingly positive impact that the Internet has had on telecommunications, technology, commerce and entertainment. Consumers for Cable Choice (C4CC) today asked the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to resist temptation to begin regulating this market and continue to allow the open market to work.


C4CC Urges Massachusetts Legislature to Encourage Cable Competition: Boston, MA (June 5, 2007) – A robust and competitive cable market is the surefire way to achieve lower prices and better service for consumers. The Massachusetts legislature should nurture that competition and resist calls for more of the status quo, Consumers for Cable Choice (C4CC) told the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Energy and Utilities during today’s hearing on the Cable Choice and Competition Act.
C4CC Urges House Commerce Committee to Encourage Broadband Competition: Washington, DC (May 9, 2007) Robust broadband infrastructure will pave the way for dynamic consumer video applications in the next decade. The House should nurture that infrastructure and resist erecting barriers that may frustrate its deployment, Consumers for Cable Choice (C4CC) told the House Commerce Committee in advance of Thursday's hearing on the video marketplace.
